Das Salzkammergut ist ein landschaftlich und historisch geprägter Kulturraum in Österreich, am Nordrand der Alpen. Er erstreckt sich über das Grenzgebiet der heutigen Bundesländer Oberösterreich, Salzburg und Steiermark. Heute ist der Begriff Salzkammergut Synonym einer Region, die sich von Fuschlsee, Wolfgangsee und Mondsee in das Almtal, vom Tal der Vöckla bis zum Dachstein und dem Grimming erstreckt. Die in der heutigen Tourismusregion Salzkammergut zusammengefassten Gemeinden reichen im Westen sogar bis zur östlichen Stadtgrenze von Salzburg. Geologisch wird es durch die Kalkalpen geprägt, morphologisch von einem Mittelgebirge, in dem zahlreiche Seen liegen.

For a short distance between Traunkirchen and Ebensee we had to use the 🚂 because a mudslide blocked the Sonnstein tunnel and it was closed. But it was only one station that…

Nice tour today, but not exactly easy. Starting from Bad Ischl over the absolute highlight, the eternal wall, with a fantastic view .. further up to km 16 where we unfortunately had to carry the bike a bit over partly difficult trails to the Altausseer / See. Then it went back over the Rettenbachklamm to Bad Ischl.

Now our multi-day bike tour is unfortunately over 🥲 I can recommend the whole R2 / R19 Salzkammergut cycle path to everyone! It was beautiful and we will be back! 🤠😉

Nice tour starting at the station 🚂 Attnang-Puchheim, on to Gmunden, Altmünster on the beautiful Traunsee 🏞.
Seen some highlights, then on via Aurach am Hongar to the beautiful Attersee 🏞. Then via Arnbruck to the station 🚂 Vöcklabruck back home 😁.
