Westweg-Etappen

Finally I was able to bring myself to tackle the Westweg (at least the first stage). Let's see if and when there will be more subsequent stages 😅.

Still very enthusiastic about the 1st stage of the Westweg, we tackled the 2nd stage two days later (26km from Dobel to Forbach).



The rain forecast this time was again between 40 and 50%, but in contrast to the first stage, when it was constantly drizzling, this time not a drop fell during the whole tour… Leer más

The Westweg seems to have cast a spell on us: Today we already completed the 3rd stage (from Forbach to Mummelsee) within a week. The Mummelsee all to yourself - who doesn't want that? A dream that has come true for us today. When we got off the bus shortly before 9:00 a.m., all the guests of the mountain hotel were still sitting behind glass at breakfast and there were no other day visitors or early hikers to be seen.

Summer, sun, Sunday - on the way on the Westweg stage # 5 from the Alexanderschanze to the Harkhof. A less spectacular tour with rather low demands of (only) approx. 17 km in length and 240 meters in altitude (compared to stage 3 with 28 km in length and 1,280 meters in altitude 🥵).

At the end of the 5th Westweg stage (Harkhof), the question arose how to get home - when there is no public bus stop far and wide?

For this we got up extra early today at 4:00 am and took the train and bus to Oberwolfach. At 7:30 am we went straight up in the cool and fresh morning air towards Harkhof.

Today it just barely missed the 30km mark - if you add the almost 8km long approach from Oberwolfach. With the distance from home to the train station (and back again) it was at least 32km 😅.

Three tours in a row with a total of 37km in length and 1,200 meters in altitude (and that without the route to the train station and at the various transfer stations 😂) Plus a record for getting up early (at 3:50 a.m.) 🥱🥱🥱😱.
