Dalarna Bikepacking 2023 ⛺

Varied tour covering the valleys and towns as well as the Fjäll-region of Dalarna. Around 50% asphalt road (small roads with very little traffic, with a few exceptions), 50% gravel or forest roads and paths. Could be modified to have even less asphalt (I wanted to cover distance on some rainy days and chose asphalt roads). Start and end at train stations (with options to take your bike on the train).
Slept in my tent (wild or next to wind shelters or the Grövelsjön Fjällstation). Exceptions (due to rain): warmshowers in Falun, Vandrarhem close to Sälen and hut on Fulufjället (not accessible by bike, requires 3 km of hiking).
! Collection includes some hikes as well!My favourites:
1. Grövelsjön: you can pitch your tent on their grounds while using the facilities incl. sauna and eating their awesome breakfast (and dinner). It only takes a short hike of a few km and you are above the treeline on the Fjäll with awesome views and reindeers
2. Cykelvasa route - around 95 km along the Vasaloppet track; can be done on a gravelbike; overnight huts every ~10 km (mainly day 9, last bit day 10)
3. Fulufjället - you can bike to the park entrance, then it's hiking. E.g. to the highest waterfall in Sweden or up to the top of the Fjäll (days 7 and 8)
4. East side of Siljan with views of the lake and beautiful scenery; some towns with chances for nice fika, e.g. Tällberg (day 3) (west side on day 10 was rather boring)
3. Mora to Grövelsjön - getting higher up, closer to the Fjäll and further away from civilization (days 4 and 5)
5. Falun mine is worth a visit; you can go underground (day 2)
6. Naturum Dalarna in Siljansnäs with viewtower on a hill overlooking Siljan - nasty climb though with a packed bike (day 10)
