Start riding in Freiburg - mountainbiking in the Black Forest

We just love bikes. That's why we not only build them but also ride them whenever we can. We really love exploring the beautiful corners of our home, Stuttgart, on two wheels. There’s one area which tempts us back again and again – Freiburg – for its great mountain biking. In the Collection, we show you our favourite trails and spots around the Sun City in the Black Forest, which our employees Max, Fabi and Martin rode on their last visit to Freiburg.

Freiburg is a really beautiful city and the old town alone, with its quaint alleys and cosy places to stop for a bite to eat, makes it worth a visit. But, for mountain bikers, Freiburg has even more to offer. Thanks to Freiburg's bustling biker scene, there are many fantastic trails in the immediate vicinity of the city, which are professionally laid out, well maintained and officially approved for mountain bikers. Trails like the "Canadian" or the "Borderline" have cult status and super fun. You can let off steam on downhill trails and work up a sweat on the ups. The mountains around Freiburg, such as the Rosskopf or Freiburg's local mountain, the Schauinsland, have loads of trails through mystical coniferous forests with magnificent views. Our favourite tours around Freiburg simply offer a successful mixture of everything that makes the Black Forest so special. After a great time on your bike, you can end the day in style with a fresh "Zäpfle" in Freiburg’s beautiful old town.

By the way, it’s very easy to reach Freiburg’s great biking areas as it is well connected to the motorway and by rail. You can travel to Breisgau conveniently by train. Whether you're looking for accommodation directly in the city or prefer to live a bit further out is purely a matter of taste but in any case, there are plenty of choices. If you want to stay longer, there are loads of places to discover on your bike in and around Freiburg such as one of the oldest bike parks in Germany in Todtnau.
