A valuable lesson of a ride to listen to locals and follow the prevailing wind...which is Iceland is a southerly wind. Best advised not to ride into it!Barren and tough conditions on this ride, and with few supply points, you do need to be fully self sufficient. It is pretty impossible to get lost as there's only one road for most of it, which then takes you through the golden triangle of Icelandic natural wonders: Gulfoss, Geysir and Thingvellir, the ancient seat of the Viking parliament, and also where the two continental plates meet.A great ride for the beginner bikepacker looking for an accessible challenge. Whether starting or ending in Blonduous, there are two options of either riding the ring road, or getting the bus (ours fitted four bikes) to Reykjavik.
